Partner with the Y in Supporting Those Affected by the Carr Fire

The Y is accepting monetary donations to go directly to help those affected by the Carr Fire. We expect the need for financial assistance for membership, child care and programs to be great, whether short term or long term.  Families have had to incur the cost of evacuating, some have damaged homes, some lost homes, others lost jobs, routines have changed, and, for a lot of us, there is a loss sense of security. The Y can help.

Become a Lifeguard

Prepare yourself to help others while giving you a rewarding job opportunity. Learn the duties and responsibilities of lifeguarding, including surveillance, how to use rescue equipment, and how to care for someone who has sustained an injury.

We offer 2 learning formats: Blended learning which includes online study plus onsite skill practice and testing. Our traditional format is all onsite learning. There is a pre-course session in which you are required to pass a swimming skills test.

Upon successful course completion, participants receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with CPR/AED and First Aid for lifeguards (valid for 2 years). All classes offered will certify you for any depth of water, unless they indicate otherwise.

Prerequisite: 15 years or older, swim 300 yd continuously with breath control, swim 25 yds, retrieve a 10lb diving brick and swim back to wall, and tread water without use of hands for 2 minutes.
