The Y receives $5,000 grant to support the First Grade Learn to Swim program.

The Record Searchlight / Scripps Howard Foundation has given the Shasta Family YMCA $5,000 for the “First Grade Learn to Swim ” program. This donation pays for swim lessons for 115 students, including instructors, pool usage, and program materials. The Redding School District will cover the transportation costs.

The generous support from the Record Searchlight means there will continue to be no cost to parents.

Swim Workouts

Chip Mark, Healthy Living Program Director, has designed swim workouts for all levels. Workouts are designed for the beginner, intermediate and advanced swimmer.   Because there are different levels, a swimmer can pick which workout best suits him or her.   You pick the swimming level, what intensity, which workout and when you swim, in order to best meet your swimming goal, whether it is to jump start your fitness level, train for a race or just mix-up your current workout.  Swimming at the Y and staying healthy just got easier;  there is something for everyone.
