May is National Bike Month: Celebrate Biking, Celebrate Good Health

Like most, you probably learned to ride a bike when you were a child. Maybe you still have fond memories of the freedom your two-wheeled transport provided. While some of us continue to make cycling a part of our lives, others can’t remember the last time we rode.

If your gears have gotten a little rusty over the years, Tamy Quigley, avid outdoor cyclist and indoor cycling instructor for the Y, offers some helpful suggestions to get you back in the saddle again.

Group Exercise

We're aware of the importance that friendships, camaraderie and support play in achieving healthier lifestyles so at the Y we offer a variety of group classes that help you care for your mind, body and spirit. There's a group waiting for you at the Y.

Consultations and Personal Training

Because we know that healthy lifestyles are achieved through nurturing mind, body and spirit, well-being and health at the Y includes more than just working out. We provide educational programs to promote healthier decisions, and offer personal training to support physical, intellectual and spiritual strength.

Swim Lessons & Swim Club

The reason the Y is referred to as "America's Favorite Swim Instructor" is because we don't just focus on swimming fundamentals but also on developing self-confidence, making friends and building the whole person – from the inside out.

Aqua Aerobics & Pool Classes

Aquatics amenities and programming offer benefits that are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes from learning to swim or building the positive relationships that lead to a healthy mind, participating in aquatics programs at the Y is about building the whole person, from the inside out.

Adult Sports and Recreation

We believe sports; fun and exploring new interests aren’t just for the young. Along with improving health, whenever teamwork is involved, there’s the added benefit of being connected to others.

Open and Lap Swim

We are a place where you can find relief from your everyday challenges, and spend time together with friends and family. During our open recreational or lap swim, you'll have a moment to relax and smile.

Tone your body in a whole new workout.  You will learn jump roping techniques while sculpting your upper and lower body.

Improve your mind and body with this exciting and challenging sport.  Classes held on beautiful Whiskeytown Lake.
