Enhance®Fitness



PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Enhance®Fitness is a proven community-based senior fitness and arthritis management program that meets 3 times per week for 60 minutes.  The class focuses on strength, flexibility, balance and cardio endurance.  The program benefits a wide range of individuals because they are encouraged to move at their own pace.  The program is designed to meet each person where they are in terms of their physical ability and helps them gain strength, flexibility and balance.  EnhanceFitness has been nationally recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, US Department of Health and Human Services, US Department on Aging, and the National Council on Aging.

ENHANCE®FITNESS:

  • Welcomes older adults at all fitness levels. The program is especially beneficial for older adults living with arthritis.

  • Classes are led by a certified instructor with special training and uses specialized adjustable weights.

  • Exercises focusing on cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, and balance which can help reduce the severity of arthritis symptoms.

  • An atmosphere that encourages social interaction, which is a vital part of health and well-being for older adults.

  • Proven results.  Studies show $945 less in healthcare costs per year than non-participants

What makes Enhance®Fitness different than other classes?

COMMITMENT:  Enhance®Fitness is more than a drop-in group exercise class.  It is an evidence-based program specifically designed for people with arthritis or limited mobility and offered in a small group and supportive environment (max of 15 participants per class).  The program lasts 16 weeks and commitment to attendance is critical to achieving improvement in your physical ability, strength, flexibility and balance. 

EVIDENCE BASED / NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED The evidenced-based Enhance®Fitness program has been nationally recognized as a safe and effective physical activity program for older adults by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The US Department of Health and Human Services, the US Administration on Aging and the National Council on Aging. 

GOAL SETTING/ASSESSMENTS:  The goal of Enhance®Fitness is to help older adults at all levels of fitness become more active, energized, and empowered to sustain independent lives.  Assessments will be taken before the program starts and at the end of 16 weeks.  Individual progress will be tracked along the way and at the end of 16 weeks your results will be provided to you to share with your physician and highlight your progress. 

UNIQUE EQUIPMENT:  Soft adjustable weights allow each participant to perform the strength training exercises at a level that is appropriate for them.
