Shasta YMCA Activities
For Youth Development. For Healthy Living. For Social Responsibility.

The Shasta Family YMCA will be holding day camps this summer and is still planning on holding both sessions of Camp McCumber. We are working with local agencies and partners regarding best practices for offering our overnight camp programs during these unprecedented times. Please see the most recent update here.

For those families who are enrolled with Shasta County Office of Education (SCOE), their cost will be covered by SCOE. Due to Covid-19 and the increase in State funding, SCOE has loosened their enrollment requirements and are offering payments for families who typically do not qualify. We highly recommend everyone consider this assistance.

In accordance with the CDC and the California Department of Public Health, and per Child Care Licensing this camp will practice the following model until the end of June:

  • Requiring all to sign a health screen agreement daily, confirming that they do not exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 and have not been in contact with anyone who exhibits these symptoms

  • Organizing campers in small groups (10 youth & 1 staff)

  • Keeping groups as static as possible by having the same group of campers stay with the same staff

  • Planning all activities to allow social distancing

  • Practicing frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizers for both staff and youth

  • Limiting camp access to YMCA staff and camp participants only. Parents will drop off/pick up at the entrance.

  • Ongoing cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces is happening throughout the day
