Have You Filled A Bucket?

That was the theme of this year’s Celebration of Assets. The Assets in Action Partnership of Shasta County recognized Asset Champions at their award ceremony on May 4. The Partnership honored individuals who contribute to the development of the children and youth of Shasta County, with the emphasis on Shasta County Priority Assets.

Our very own Linda Delles, Director of Family and Youth Development is always filling a bucket. She was presented with the “High Expectations” award for 2012.

Youth Basketball League

At the Y, our youth sport programs focus on more than just winning. We focus on modeling and teaching our four core values:  showing a sincere concern for others, being honest, showing respect for al people and things, and being accountable for our actions.

Every child gets equal playing time and we encourage fair play, positive competition and family involvement.  Our goal is to enable each player to excel in that other game we are all familiar with:  the game of life. There are no try-outs or cuts in Y youth sports.  Everyone is a valuable member of the team.  The most skilled and the least skilled are given equal attention.  Y coaches and athletes keep winning in perspective.

The Y uses volunteer coaches.  All coaches are fingerprinted and attend a coaches clinic.

Next league winter 2013.  Sign-ups begin in fall 2012.
