Shasta YMCA Activities
For Youth Development. For Healthy Living. For Social Responsibility.

At the Y we know that all kids are unique. That’s why we let every child try a day for FREE to insure that our program is a good fit.

Shasta Family YMCA operates a preschool provided through collaborative efforts at Manzanita Elementary, and North Cottonwood School. The Y Preschool programs are year-round, with 3 to 5 day options available. The Y Preschool programs serve children ages 2 through 5 years old (potty trained.)

Program highlights include thematic weekly curriculum promoting cognitive early learning of letters, numbers, shapes, colors and name recognition. Circle Times include discussions about the calendar, weather and topics of interest along with stories and music.

Evidence-based curriculums such as Zoo Phonics language development and the Second Step social skill building materials are incorporated throughout the day. At Learning Centers, children interact with materials and experiences that develop creativity, problem solving, small motor skills and social skills. The Raising A Reader early literacy book bag program encourages family reading by sending home beautiful, age-appropriate books with the important message of the benefits of daily reading to your child. Healthy living choices are encouraged with nutritious snacks and lots of physical activity.
