This course awards the YMCA of the USA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification. After successful completion of this course, instructors will be able to identify components of the swim lesson continuum, demonstrate behaviors of an effective instructor, maintain an inclusive environment of learning, while keeping swimmers on task in a positive and safe environment. Candidates learn the techniques for breaking down critical features of a swimmer's skill progression at any age and any stage. Participants must be at least 16 years old to take this course.
The Shasta Family YMCA hires and staff swim instructors for their year-round Swim School program. Candidates who successfully complete the swim instructor certification process are welcome to apply for Swim Instructor positions with the Shasta Family YMCA.
