Swimming at the Y helps people thrive - in and out of the water.  Swim lessons provide youth with the opportunity to set goals and achieve success, as well as learn water safety.  Youth can take their swim skills to the next level by joining the Sharks Swim Team.  Aqua aerobics and lap swimming are excellent ways to stay healthy and is free with your membership.  And, open swim is fun for everyone.  The Shasta Family YMCA is committed to providing a safe environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Adult Swim Lessons

Research finds that more than half of all Americans either cannot swim or they do not have a complete set of basic swimming skills.  Furthermore, adults who do not know how to swim are reluctant to learn: either due to lack of access to lessons, embarrassment that they do not know how, or that they think it is too late in life to learn.  The Y wants to change that.

There are no reservations needed when it comes to staying fit and having fun.  During our open swim and lap swimming times you can just jump in and get moving.

AQUA EXERCISE

Aqua exercise promotes greater mobility, is low impact, contributes to reduced pain and stiffness, increases muscle strength, and is a recommended cross-training exercise.  Because our aqua classes are held in our heated Indoor Pool, you can stick to your exercise routine year-round, no matter what the weather conditions.

Swim Grant Awarded

The Shasta Family YMCA was selected as one of the swim lesson providers nationwide to receive a 2025 grant from the USA Swimming Foundation. This funding supports our ongoing commitment to making swim lessons accessible in our community. We are grateful for this recognition and excited to use these resources to expand our Adult Learn to Swim program, helping more adults gain confidence, improve water safety, and enjoy the benefits of swimming.
