With so many demands on today's families, parents need all the support they can get. That is why child care at the Y is about more than just looking after kids. As the largest provider of child care in the U.S., the Y has always been focused on meeting the social, emotional and academic needs of youth. Y programs are designed to nurture youth development by providing a safe place to learn foundational skills; develop healthy, trusting relationships; and build self-reliance through the Y's character values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
Youth in our afterschool programs enjoy enriching activities in a positive environment that aim to provide well-rounded experiences. We combine academic support, with social-emotional learning (self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making), while encouraging creativity. And, we encourage healthy lifestyles through nutritious snacks and active play. The values and skills learned in Y programs help youth become strong, capable and engaged young people.
Programs like Afterschool Care cannot be implemented without the help of our sponsors and donors. We call this the Donor Difference. If you are interested in partnering with the Shasta Family YMCA to address the gaps in our community, contact Julie Schroeder, Donor Relations and Development Manager, at 530.246.9622 x126 or [email protected]
