Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you’re age 70½ or older and have a traditional IRA, you can direct up to $105,000 per year (for 2025) from your IRA straight to a qualified charity—without first taking a taxable distribution. That means your Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can fulfill all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while bypassing income taxes on those funds. When you designate the Shasta Family YMCA as the recipient of your QCD, you’re investing in vital community-building programs — from youth development and swim lessons to wellness outreach and financial assistance for families.

By choosing the Y for your QCD, you help ensure that no child is turned away due to financial need, that health and fitness programs remain accessible, and that families facing hardship continue to receive support. Your tax-wise generosity becomes a lasting legacy—impacting lives right here in Shasta County for years to come. If you’d like help coordinating your gift or confirming that the Y qualifies under IRS rules, we’d be honored to assist.
