At the Shasta Family YMCA, we know how important it is for a parent/guardian to make time for themselves, whether it going for a swim, joining a fitness class, or taking a moment to recharge. That’s why the Shasta Family YMCA offers a Child Watch program - a free onsite service designed to give parents/guardians peace of mind while they focus on their wellness.
The Y's Child Watch program provides a safe, nurturing environment for children and offers a variety of activities that not only engage children but helps them grow and learn. The Y creates a space where children can play, learn, and thrive. With exciting monthly themes, a variety of activities, and a dedicated team, children look forward to their time at the YMCA!
Each month a new theme is introduced to make the time in Child Watch even more exciting. These themes guide our activities, ensuring that children are always engaged in fun and age-appropriate play. From “Winter Wonderland” explorations to “Outer Space Adventures,” each month brings fresh ideas that inspire creativity and curiosity.
The Y believes in offering a balanced mix of activities that appeal to all children’s interests and developmental needs. Throughout the week, children have access to:
- Sensory and Sound Play: Perfect for younger children, these activities stimulate their senses and help develop cognitive skills.
- Arts and Crafts: Arts and crafts projects are hands-on and tailored to the month’s theme, helping children express their creativity.
- STEM Activities: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activities encourage problem-solving and curiosity.
- Story Time: Engaging books that align with our monthly themes encourage a love of reading and spark the imagination.
- Montessori-Inspired Play: We offer activities that promote independence, self-guided exploration, and hands-on learning.
The Y is passionate about creating a welcoming, positive environment where children feel safe and cared for.
