Shasta Family YMCA Serves Over 5,000 Meals to the Redding Community Through Summer Food Service Program
This summer, the Shasta Family YMCA proudly participated in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) — and what an incredible season it was! From June 9 to August 8, our dedicated Y Child Care staff served breakfast and lunch daily to children and families throughout the Redding community. In total, we provided an impressive 5,091 nutritious meals to help keep our community’s youth fueled, healthy, and ready for summer fun.
The Summer Food Service Program is designed to provide free, healthy meals to children during school break -helping bridge the gap for families during the summer months. For many, summer can be a challenging time without access to school meal programs, and SFSP plays an important role in ensuring no child in our community goes hungry.
We are deeply grateful to our wonderful community members and families whose support made this first year such a remarkable success. From spreading the word to helping us connect with those who needed it most, your encouragement and participation fueled this program every step of the way.
The Shasta Family YMCA is committed to continuing this important work. Our goal is to make SFSP a summer tradition, helping local families access healthy meals and resources during the months when they need it most. We look forward to serving again next year — together, we can build stronger, healthier summers for all.
Thank you all for a summer of service, support, and community!
