Our lifestyle change programs aimed at preventing and managing chronic disease are another way the Shasta Family YMCA is helping people live their healthiest and fullest lives.  The Shasta Family YMCA offers these programs in response to critical needs in the community.  Our evidence-based programs bridge the gap between clinical care and health promotion/disease prevention by providing programming in small group, supportive environments.  Our programs help individuals build a healthy spirit, mind and body, which makes for a healthier community for us all.

HEALTH COACHING

This program helps clients discover how to fuel their bodies, live a healthy lifestyle, and become their healthiest, happiest version of themselves by finding what works for them. This takes place through small shifts and goals to move a person further along on their journey towards being their personal best.

TRAUMA & STRESS MANAGEMENT

The Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM) program is for anyone who has endured psychological trauma and/or stress. Evidence-based strategies are used to relieve personal and professional stress, transform trauma, and promote lifelong health. The CMBM approach heals individual trauma and builds community-wide resilience.

DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM

It is estimated that half of Shasta County adults have prediabetes, and most do not know it.  Prediabetes is real, and if left untreated is likely to develop into Type 2 Diabetes within 5 years unless preventative action is taken.
